Compare BTU costs for Pellet Heating with Oil, Electricity and Propane
COMPARATIVE FUEL COSTS

Based on
average fuel prices from the Pellet Fuels Institute
this chart represents the expected costs per BTU for various fuels
As you can see, the cost per BTU of Pellets is not only
favorable compared to more traditional fuels, but it is also carbon
neutral. Trees absorb CO2 to photosynthesize organic compounds using solar energy. The energy is stored chemically, and released when the wood is subsequently destroyed, whether by natural decay or combustion. Hence, although CO2 is released into the atmosphere when wood is burnt, an equivalent amount of CO2 has been absorbed from the atmosphere during growth, and would be released naturally if the wood were not burnt. This is known as a closed carbon cycle as no new stores of CO2 are being released.
Pellets are a great way to reduce the dollar and
environmental costs of heating!
